I don't see how adding Manifest entries like Implementation-Version, Implementation-Vendor, etc. will make it any easier to query such information, and it is moderately difficult to add such entries without having to change the version number in multiple places in the source base when upgrading it. JOGL now prints the version when -Djogl.verbose is specified on the command line which should be sufficient to debug most kinds of class path problems.
