I am running RedHat Linux 9.0 java SDK version 1.4 July 17 download of jogl If I run a non-java (C) glX demo that calls glXMakeCurrent, it runs fine. Many bug fixes and workarounds for driver instability problems have been made since the initial release of JOGL, and I haven't seen a problem like this on any machine we've tested on.
