Apparently it isn&apos;t just on Windows that the AWT paints the background of
Canvases internally. See the above forum thread. We will need
-Dsun.awt.noerasebackground=true to be obeyed on X11 platforms and need the same
kind of per-canvas disableBackgroundErase() method implemented on the X11 side.
