There is no linear algebra package in jogl... while this is obviously not a part
of OpenGL, perhaps something like the javax.vecmath (from Java3D) package should
be packaged with jogl to make linear algebra operations standardized(lwjgl does
the same thing, but with a small custom package of their own). This would open
the way for more advanced versions of the opengl functions that take Vector3f or
the like as arguments.

I'm sorry but we are not going to bundle a linear algebra library in JOGL at
this time. I would strongly encourage you to consider starting a new project on
java.net if you want to design a new one. As far as I understand it, the
javax.vecmath package has been completely unbundled from Java3D at this point,
so in theory you could have an extension JNLP file for that library in similar
fashion to JOGL's, and simply reference both JOGL and vecmath from your
application's JNLP file, for example. You might also want to look at the
gleem.linalg package in the jogl-demos workspace (BSD licensed) for a
not-quite-complete linear algebra library with a somewhat different design than
vecmath.
